The anti-pluralism inherent in the National Prayer Breakfast is grating and would be reason enough for a head of state to discontinue support for the event in a functional modern democracy—which the United States is decidedly not.
The event was first held in 2017 and is inspired by the National Prayer Breakfast held annually in the United States.
The values represented by the Prayer Breakfast are especially important today when there is a war in Hungary’s next-door neighbour, and “under such circumstances, it is important to find the values that lead people to each.”
